About The Characters

Is that her real name?

Yes. That really is my real name. It is not a nom de plume or de guerre. My young adult books are published under “Lili St. Crow” to make it abundantly clear that they are intended for a different audience.

Does she really work in a bookstore?

Yes. I volunteer at Cover to Cover Books in downtown Vancouver. However, my schedule is fluid, and my schedule information will not be given out over the phone, in person, or by email. EVER.

How do I contact Lili?

Please go to the Contact Page.

I sent Lili an email. Why didn’t she reply?

Please check the Contact page. I get 50-100 emails on a very light day. If I answered every email I would literally do nothing BUT answer email all day. I’m very sorry, but I just can’t. Please know that I do read each and every email or letter I get, and I thank you for your time and trouble. It’s just that I can either answer email or write books. I’m sure we all rather I write the books.

Will Lili read my book/ short story/ fanfic/ screenplay?

Unfortunately my time is at a premium and I don’t offer editing or critique services anymore. All the writing advice I can offer you may be found in my weblog or Livejournal.

Will Lili post excerpts?

Very, very occasionally I will post excerpts. They will be announced through my blog. I cannot respond when you ask me to post more. The ones I will post are carefully chosen not to “spoil” the book in question. I realize you want to know more, but that’s the way it is.

On the other hand, you can go to the fan forum, where I do occasionally give spoilers and answers, and where I talk about the books. That’s your best bet.

Where do I find Lili’s books?

The best place to find a complete list of in-print Saintcrow books is under my Amazon listing or my wiki bibliography. You can also check out the Books page. Clicking on a book cover on this site will generally take you to either a sample of the book or a listing for an online bookseller. You could also contact Cover to Cover Books and ask them whether they have the book in stock. (If you get the book from them, there’s a very good chance I can sign it for you before it goes out.)

See? Lots of choices.

When will the next Watcher book be available?

At this time, there are no more Watcher books planned.

When will the next Valentine book be available?

The fifth and final Valentine book, To Hell And Back, was released in January of 2008. A short story featuring Liana Spocarelli (with a cameo by Dante Valentine) was released in the Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance. There are no more Valentine books planned at this time–all my energy is going into the Jill Kismet and Strange Angels series, as well as several short stories.

What about Selene and Nikolai?

You can find everyone’s favorite Saint City Nichtvren couple in my free online serial, Selene. The rest of their story is approached tangentially in the Valentine books, as well as the short story “Brother’s Keeper” in the Hotter Than Hell anthology. There is another short story, Just Ask, in the Mammoth Book of Hot Romance, dealing with Selene’s return to Santiago City.

Are there more Society books?

There are two more Society books in my head but not, as yet, written. To write them I would have to kill Zeke, and I don’t want to do that.

When is the next Jill Kismet book coming out?

The most current Jill Kismet book, Heaven’s Spite, was released in November ’10. You can order Heaven’s Spite here. The final book in the series, Angel Town, will be released in November 2011.

Glocks don’t have hammers!

I know. Go here and read, please. I thought that in a different world with hellbreed, scurf, and Weres, modified gun design would be easy for a reader to accept. I was wrong. I am glad to report I have listened to my Readers and given Jill different guns.

As for cordite: Gunfire has, to me, a peculiar and acrid scent; “cordite” is an easy way for me to express that to general readership even though it’s not used as a propellant anymore. When I say it, the average person gets a sense of the scent I’m speaking of. Should I do so? Probably not. But I do.

When will the next Strange Angels book be available?

The fifth and final Strange Angels book, Reckoning, will be released November 2011.

How many books are there in the Strange Angels series?

There are five books in the Strange Angels series: Strange Angels, Betrayals, Jealousy, Defiance, and the last book, Reckoning. Reckoning will be out in November 2011, and afterward I plan on turning my attention to an all-new YA series.

When is the next Steelflower book coming out?

The next Steelflower book, Steelflower’s Song, isn’t written yet. My schedule just hasn’t permitted it. I have it in my head and will get to it as soon as I can.

Is there a sequel to The Demon’s Librarian?

There is a sequel in my head, tentatively titled The Lawyer and the Demon, dealing with Chess’s sister Charlie. My schedule hasn’t permitted me to work on it yet. As soon as I can, I will.

Does Lili sign books?

If you’d like to set up a book signing, please click here and we’ll see what we can work out.

If you’d like a signed copy of a Saintcrow book, you can also ask Cover to Cover Books. They’re very willing to send signed (and personalized) books for cover price plus reasonable postage. (They do also mail overseas.) All my books, even the Anna Beguines, are available, signed and/or personalized, through them. Also, check my Events page to see if I’m signing near you.

What about Valentine’s Fall?

Valentine’s Fall was the working title for Dead Man Rising. Somehow the working title slipped through the production department (poor lads and lasses, they had enough to deal with.) So, just to clear up any confusion, Valentine’s Fall is Dead Man Rising out in paperback September 2006.

Are there any movie plans in the works?

None right now.

What’s this about books published under another name?

You can find some of my previous work here, under the name Anna Beguine. For those of you asking, avatar is still half-written. I’m trying to get to it.

Is Japhrimel really dead?

The word I’d use to describe Japh’s status isn’t dead. It’s more like…dormant. And that’s all I can say until you’ve read Dead Man Rising.

Who are Lili’s characters based on?

There are some secondary characters based very loosely on people I’ve known. But none of my protagonists are based on myself or anyone I know or have known.

Is SIGMA real?

No. SIGMA and the Watchers (not to mention Circle Lightfall) are all fictional, though I do take some liberties with American and European history in many of my books. Really.

I love the characters and I want to know more about them!

That’s great! Pop by the forum, if you like. It’s fan based and very welcoming!
