November Again

I signed up for NaNoWriMo this year, but I haven’t finished the one book I was working on. ARGH. This is going to be fun.

On the bright side, this will give my discipline a little extra boost. I can always use that.

So if you don’t see me around for a while, I’m probably hunched feverishly over a keyboard somewhere, tryi like hell to get 3K a day out. My brain is going to feel like a wrung-out sponge at the end of this.

Buckle up, baby. We’re going to ride.

Would you be horribly offended if I added you as a buddy on the NaNo site? The few people I know who were supposed to do it this year have mostly ducked out at the last minute, and it’s good to have people there with actual numbers showing up beside their names.

I haven’t started mine yet and I’m so nervous, but it’s always been a good experience in the past! I’m honestly thrilled to see published authors using NaNo as a writing tool just like the rest of us – I’ve heard people pitch fits about how it isn’t “real” writing for “real” writers, and that just drives me crazy.

Good luck for NaNo! 3k sounds crazy much, but I’m sure you’ll handle it. I’m participating as well and like Lauren said it’s so nice to see published writers doing this! :D I hope you win!

I almost NaNoed this year, and then life gave me another flaming crisis to juggle… Yay! At this point, I can barely write my name, let alone anythign else. Bleh.

Then again, my brain keeps saying “hey if Lili can do it, so can you, you lazy excuse making weenie!”

Good for you! It’s my first year doing NaNo, so I’m terribly excited and terrified all at once. It’s fun stuff.

Good luck with your novel! :P

  6. Lili Says:

Lauren: I would so NOT be offended! Go ahead and add me as a buddy–that’s why I post my NaNo stuff, to show people that working writers can find value in it too. Anything that helps with discipline is good, IMHO.

    Have fun!

    I can’t wait til Betrayals!!!! 15 days!! :)

Just signed up too (better late than never). Now if I can only decide on which of three story ideas to concentrate on… And here I was hoping it would help me focus, LOL.

P.S. Almost finished Strange Angels and loving it! Will pick up Betrayals soon…

Your discipline comment? This made me laugh. I follow you on Twitter, and have seen your Tweets about your general routine. As I was gearing up for this year’s NaNo, I thought, “This is one month of Lili St. Crow’s usual writing life. Only less.”

You doing this is an inspiration!

I see that you’re the top of the list for the SciFi Panel book signing that Powell’s is doing on the 29th of this month. Very cool!

I’m just going to try to do NaBloPoMo – National Blog Posting Month and hope I can do that! Good luck with yours!

Caught mention of NaNoWriMo somewhere and guilted myself into participating again. This is the first time I’ve attempted it since I got a full time job. Yay for basically no social life or reading anything for the month of November.
I’m doing pretty well, 12,300 or so words as far as this morning. I’m ahead of the schedule to getting the 50k words done in time, but I can already see that it’s going to be longer. My question now is will I finish the book in the in time. If I do I have the added bonus of it being my book choice for the book club I’m in. Free editing and critique from friends I know don’t read my kind of book.
    No pressure.
