“Betrayals” made the Times list!

Oh, my GOD, you guys. You guys. After a totally cruddy fall…oh, my GOD.

My editor called me not half an hour ago with the news that Betrayals, the second in the Strange Angels series, is #5 on the New York Times Children’s Paperback Bestseller list for Dec. 6th. I think I screamed in her ear for five minutes straight.

I am now sitting here alternately stunned, screaming with joy, or weeping with joy. I’ve called my writing partner, Coyote Boy, my agent, my sisters, my friends. Everyone agrees I need champagne. The kids are pleasantly happy for me, though they have no idea what the heck is happening. They just know Mum’s really excited.

I have only two words: thank you.

Thank you to Linda K. for believing in me. Thank you to Miriam, my wonderful agent, for believing in me. Thank you to Devi P. and Jessica R., editors who believed in me too. Thank you to my friends, thank you to my sisters, and thank you to my children for being wonderful. Thank you to Coyote Boy for holding the line.

Last, but most important: a great big THANK YOU to you, dear Reader. Thank you for reading my stories. Thank you for showing your appreciation. Thank you for being there. Without you, I’m just shouting in the wind.

Thank you all, each and every one of you, so, so much.

I’ve got to go cry (with joy) a little more. I keep repeating “Oh my God” and “thank you” and “Happy Thanksgiving” like a broken record.

Once more, then, because it really bears saying, and I really mean it:

Thank you. I am so happy right now. Thank you all.

This is my first trip to your site. I’ve been compiling a list of books to get because Danville VA’s ONLY bookstore is closing. The local B Dalton had two sign’s in front of their store: Proudly Serving Danville for 25 years; the other said We’re Closing and leaving you high and dry. (The last part was editorializing.) So I’l be driving 45 to 60 miles to pick up your next books. When I saw your note for today, I had to comment. I’m extremely happy for you because you deserve it! It’s wonderful to know that authors are appreciative of their readers; I know I’m appreciative of the many authors that share their visions with me. Thanks for sharing and keep up the great work! Happy Thanksgiving!

I only know you through your posts and your books (I’ve been reading since Working for the Devil first came out), but I am very happy for you. #5 bestseller is pretty damned good. You deserve it. Now I’m glad that I bought Betrayals the night it came out – (me and many, many others!). I wasn’t going to read it right away (in the middle of another book), but I loved Strange Angels and wanted to have Betrayals here in my house, waiting for me.

Congratulations on your success. Of course, I’ve been enjoying all of your books that I can get my hands on, so I think you deserve the success.

(And HI! Talk about a crummy fall – hospitals and new meds will do that . . . I just start writing this past week for the first time in, oh, three months. And I feel renewed and alive like no med can do. And scared straight because oh Lord what is writing to the new me? what am I writing? I have to TRUST MYSELF? oh God, I know that

  27. Jess Says:

(posted before I was done, gah!)

I know that’s what the hospital was for but dang if theory and practice aren’t miles apart. I am stronger than this and every word I get down is proof.)

  28. julia Says:

Although I came late into the game, I just wanted to congratulate you!! So, CONGRATS!!! You earn it.

I’ve been yapping about the Strange Angels series especially since Betrayals came out to everyone who knows me…it’s kind of hard being me when I’m excited about a book because I don’t have any book freaks as friends.

And I’m a big book freak. I like to discuss and analyze and plot.

Betrayal is FANTASTIC!! I especially love that the dynamics between Graves and Dru sort of switched. Graves being the assertive one and Dry as the ‘lost’ one.

Did I say I have major love for Graves? No, well I do. I got so excited seeing him evolve as a character and as a loup-garou.

There are SO many favorite scenes in the book that I basically keep rereading them everytime I remembered something from the book!!!!

I bow to you, woman!! Thanks for sharing your story for us and for my favorite ship, Dru/Graves.
