If you're not getting out enough, experiencing new things, life seems like an endless rut. Wake up, go to work, come home, wash, rinse, repeat. Working twelve-hour shifts at a nuclear power plant, I know the feeling of "the shift never starts because the shift never ends." You'll know its bad when you get home, go to sleep, and have a vivid dream of a full work day. Then you wake up, exhausted from your dream-work, and get to go in to work for another twelve hours of "fun and excitement." Take a day, and go out and do something for yourself. Dinner with friends, a movie, a relaxing evening with a good book and better glass of wine; whatever it takes to relax once in a while. It's such a hard choice, but one you have to make differently sometimes. It is important to get out and love the world, and those in it, but other days all I can think about when I do that is how many words am I not writing right now. It's a bummer of a mind set, but it is what it is. Hope you got plenty done for the day. I always find that I’d love to do stuff with people, but I also want to get a stack of writing done that day.
