David Eddings Is Gone
I guess it’s true and David Eddings has passed on.
It seems like every couple of months we’re losing writers I thought were eternal.
Requiscat in pace, sir.

That’s so sad. He was one of the writer’s that pulled me into reading fantasy so long ago. I remember reading belgariad for the first time in high school…and I re-read those books once a year (every year) since then.

Thanks for posting, I hadn’t heard that. I have to agree with Tanny above, it was right around high school that my Dad had gotten a copy of the first book of the Belgariad Series. He finished it and I got hooked on them rght afterwards. It showed me what a truly good fantasy story was supposed to be. There are still a couple of songs from Oingo Boingo, the Cure and Siouxisie and the Banshees (the soundtrack of my teen years) that take me right back to those stories. Very sad.

So sad, he was my first fantasy author that I followed in middle school.

Thank you for posting this. He was/is one of my favorite authors. I still give his books out to people for birthdays and such. I am so sad to hear of his passing, but it made me laugh that he switched to fantasy after seeing lotr in it’s 73rd printing.
May his books have the same length of life.
