A Sunny Hopefulness
The sun is shining. It’s a gorgeous day. The last eight years have been hellish, as America has been warped out of recognition by a daddy’s boy and his cabal of rich sociopaths. But now we’ve got something.
I find it interesting and amusing that I finished reading Gavin de Becker’s The Gift of Fear just last night, and woke up to news of the inaugural address this morning. I’m going to be reviewing The Gift of Fear soon, because it was one of those books I am going to buy and give to people because ZOMG! It was SO USEFUL and clear, and it answered a lot of questions I’ve had for a while about the nature of stalkers and Right Men.
Especially as we’ve spent the last eight years ruled by violent “Right Men”.
Anyway, I’m going to enjoy the sun and start revising that second YA book. It’s time. Luck to you, my fellow humans. Oh, and check out the Deadline Dames today–Jackie Kessler has a post up about the Muse. And *whispers* you can win some more stuff.

Interesting article on “the right man”. I think the psychological term that describes most of that sort of behavior is ‘pathological narcissist’.
What is not often studied is what makes those men (and women) so. Nobody is born this or that, much less “born bad”. People are mostly “made” by their environments (genetics does play a part too of course but it seems that it is a lesser one when it comes to those sorts of people).
What does it take to turn a child into an adult with such a weak sense of self that he needs to lord it over others and abuse them? I would say child abuse of some sort and degree but since most child abuse victims never grow up to become horrible human beings, the question remains.
