Ring-Around-Rosie
Another bulleted list. Yes, my brain is fried. B-O-I-L-E-D, that spells fried. Heh.
* I have been listening to Duffy lately. It’s like Amy Winehouse without the trainwreck. Soothing, even, nice. I suspect there is not much that is Deep or Affecting on the album, despite the size of her voice (it’s uncanny).
* Copyedits were amazingly clean this time around. It was weird. I finished the whole book in a day and approved 95% of the changes. I expect to see Lucifer carrying ice skates ANY MINUTE NOW.
* Will some of my characters please shut up? I can’t write you right now. I have to write things I’ll get paid for. I got kids to feed. Really, I’ll write you in a little bit. I promise. I always have before, haven’t I?
* I don’t know how much coffee I’m going to need to take down today in order to feel coherent. I suspect it will be a large quantity.
* Maybe I should just take the day off. I’m ahead of schedule for just that reason…No. The guilt, she is too much.
* I should be doing website work instead of playing online. I should be writing or folding laundry. But yanno…I am feeling naughty today. Maybe I will take that day off. Or dither about taking it until nothing productive gets done, which is by far the most likely thing to happen.
ARGH. This happens whenever I put a book to bed. The running in circles yapping at my own tail is exhausting and counterproductive.
Guess I’ll go take a shower and buckle down. Sigh.

I love Duffy, my husband (a freelance writer) wrote about her for O, The Oprah Magazine, and I could not stop listening to her record for at least three months. If you like her, you might like Adele, a similarly one-named woman from the UK (Adele is British, Duffy is Welsh).
And there is never enough coffee, is there?

Want to ruin a lot of people’s thoughts on playground nursery rhymes? Tell them the meaning behind that little ditty of ‘Ring Around the Rosie’. I got busted with that this last weekend and was told they really rather wouldn’t have learned. Go figure.

I listened to Duffy all summer too, her voice was a nice escape. I thought I would share with you my current car CD – Rachel Yamagata – Elephants…Teeth Sinking Into Heart.
She manages to be both tough, soft and great to listen too!
