So That’s Why
I just realized why I feel wrung out and left to dry. I’ve written two books and revised three so far this year, as well as other fits, indiscretions, and short stories. Not bad for eight months of work.
No wonder I can’t force the Muse to go any faster. The little tramp is tired from earning her keep.
Ah well. Onward! Mush!
*time passes*
You know, I never thought I’d live in the happy, totally awesome dream world where PN Elrod would just call me. On the phone. To talk about stuff. I am a huge, diehard Jack Fleming fan, ever since I worked up north in the Big Mega Used Bookstore and was shelving the SF/F section and thinking, huh, this might not belong here. I should read a little bit…hmmm…oh this is good…should take this home… As a matter of fact, the story A Standup Dame in the Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance is a tribute to Jack.
And then, years later, to have Pat call me to talk about career/book/short story stuff…it’s…well, awesome is the only word that applies.
I love this job. *beams*
In other cool news, the kids have finished the Marx Brothers jag (we’ve sent the DVDs back to Netflix, but the kids want them TO HAVE, so we’ll see) and are now on Dark Shadows. The original Dark Shadows, that is.
Srsly, the kids could watch DS for HOURS. I wonder what sort of strange genetic marker accounts for that. It’s from me, I’m certain.
