Video Thursday!
Here shall be a bulleted list, for I am crunchy and good with ketchup this morning. Heh.
* A big shout-out to about a quarter of my f-list, and about half of all their f-lists, who are currently attending Portus even as I type this. From the Selkie to Cavalaxis and D. Macabre, not to mention D. Labyrinth and Yanniconny, vaya con Dios! Have a great time, everyone!
* I’m judging a writing contest over at Empire of the Cat. The deadline for submission is July 16th (I believe) and the prizes are signed books by yours truly. The subject is fairytales. Enjoy!
* I love this song:
I especially like the video, where Annie Lennox dresses up like a superhero. Each time I listen to the song I find more in it.
* I am often struck by how kids “fix” themselves when they have a congenial environment. I’ve often said you can’t save someone who wants to be saved, but when someone does honestly want to be saved, miracles are possible. Which leads me to the question, how much of a miracle is just allowing it to happen?
* I also love this song:
It’s kind of how Saul feels about Jill.
* Since I’m apparently on a video kick, how about some Stranger Than Fiction?
I LOVED this movie. I just can’t say enough good things about it. And that’s rare, for me.
* I have become totally enamored of the Comics Curmudgeon. He just can’t mock those comic strips fast enough for me. More! More!
* Oh, Fantes.com! Look kindly upon this, your humble kitchen-addicted servant! Please do not tempt me more with brotforms and herb mincers! Avert! Avert!
* One of the great joys of my childhood, bleeding through into my adult life, is the Harriet Carter catalog. It’s an event in our house. The kids gather round, and we snark the entire catalog from soup to nuts. By the end of it I’m usually laughing too hard to breathe, the UnSullen One is on the floor clutching his midriff, and the kids are all excited because everyone’s having such a good time.
And I believe that is all for today. Except I could link to the White Stripes’s Ball and a Biscuit, which I listened to a LOT while writing Weasel Boy and will probably go back to when I start revising.
But for right now, I need a shower. And to pack a lunch since we won’t be home today. Happy Thursday, everyone!
