It’s The First Day Of School

Despite attempts to make it less than stellar, the first day of school for the Sullen One appears to be on track and going smoothly. I.E., my mad phone-and-google-fu skillz have vanquished attempts to keep me uninformed and penalized for being uninformed. Next I shall turn my l33t skillz to overcoming the attempt to keep the Sullen One out of Running Start. It shall not happen, I decree. If only because it was four hundred dollars for the college course this last summer that he passed with flying colors. He worked so hard at that class, I will not let anything stand in the way of him getting into this program.

It was a rough night, sticky and hot (heat lightning was reported in several places.) Rain broke in early in the morning, too late for me to get a full night’s sleep. Ugh, double ugh, and triple ugh. I got up this morning at seven-thirty, thinking I might have to take the Sullen One to school at that benighted hour, but I’ve since found out I don’t have to do that until this afternoon. Which means he can sleep, but I’m stuck being up.

I think I’m going to take a whack at the filing today. It’s going to be a huge job, but hopefully I can break it up into manageable chunks and get everything squared away. Plus I have to put the new blinds up in two rooms, but I don’t know if that’s possible without a power drill.

Yes, I need a power drill. Go figure.

Anyway, it’s shaping up to be a long day, and even though the heat has broken it’s still very humid and looking like it will be hot later on in the week. Joy. I think I’m wilting.

Wishing for fans and ice cubes…
