Hodgepodge
Eh, I am late, for I’ve just recently returned from the coast. I needed a vacation in the worst way. You know when you start contemplating taking a pillow in the bathroom so you can 1. scream into it and b. sleep on the floor just to gain some solitude, you should take a break. So I left town before the weekend, and the car almost overheated on the way out–ninety degree weather and stop and go highway traffic for an hour will do that.
But once I escaped the city everything was all groovy. I had a wonderful time and got a little sunburned, got plenty of salt in my hair, and shopped a bit. (The lady in the rare book store in Depoe Bay was just wonderful, may I say) Now we’ve got a houseguest and I am still busy, but I have enough emotional energy to BE busy.
So here’s a catchup post. I’ll just make a list.
* Breast implants linked to higher rates of suicide. Apparently all the doctors can’t understand why this is. So I guess they don’t get that the whole idea that you’re not good enough unless you have someone cut your body open to remake you to look like Barbie might make a girl a tad bit depressed.
* smoke and mirror are now live. Vampires, murder, drug use, crucifixion, soma, romance, and telepathy. Even if they’re not very good books, I think I get points for cool.
* The anthology My Big Fat Supernatural Honeymoon comes out in December and is now ready for preorder! It’s edited by the amazing PN Elrod and has a ton of really cool authors participating. My story Half of Being Married is in it–it’s about what happens when a werewolf marries a vampire hunter, and the honeymoon gets a little wild.
* I’ve got the proof pages for To Hell And Back. Once I finish with these I’ll be officially done with the Valentine books. *boggles*
* Contest winners standby for celebratory emails!
* I am working on my piece for Nothing But Red. Details to follow.
* I am also doing revisions on the first Jill Kismet book, Night Shift, which I am really enjoying. I like Jill and have plenty more to say about her. Which all adds up to a lot of work.
Which really is just the way I like it.
* I believe I’m going to be in the Book Bytes section of the September 2007 Romantic Times. woot!
* A big shout out to the lovely ladies at the Spouting Horn restaurant in Depoe Bay as well. They were so nice and helpful, even when extraordinarily busy–and they remembered when you’re polite, people. So be nice to waitresses, please. It is a good thing to do.
I’ve missed Reader Questions this week, and I know there are a ton of them. I’m working on it.
I hope your weekend was as wonderful as mine, dear Readers. Dabbling one’s toes in the Pacific does wonders. I don’t feel quite right unless I get to see the sea once in a while.
