What I Did This Weekend

This weekend Yours Truly:

* was a single mother again since the DHM was in Seattle
* heard over and over again how the Sullen Teen scared Cat #2 and Cat #2 tried to leap through a glass door, bonking himself on the head
* finished that short story for the honeymoon anthology, it’s called Half Of Being Married and is undergoing tweaks with the Selkie, then the Selkie and the agent, then the editor.
* dealt with two teenagers in the house grunting at each other as they played video games and ate pizza–for the Sullen One had a friend over
* corralled the Little Prince’s fits of independence, usually expressed with “I hate you” or “No I will not wear knickers/clothes/shoes, especially outside” or “I don’t wanna eat”
* longingly thought of selling to the gypsies every child in the house except the Princess, who I taught to look up things on Wikipedia
* played the Shins and Rodrigo y Gabriela over and over again, with a little Pan’s Labyrinth OST thrown in
* did not sleep worth a rat’s patootie
* changed all the clocks for Daylight Savings something-or-another
* hit level 30 in WoW with my priest character, an achievement done after I finished the short story, since I am a Good Girl

I wonder if my Friday list of things that got done is applicable under the weekend list, since I REALLY WANT TO MENTION spending an HOUR in the post office sending a certain mound of paperwork back to a publisher. Thank God the Sullen Teen could babysit, because an hour in a crowded post office with the Princess and Little Prince would have been ninth-circle-of-hellish. The Princess is very good but she has Many Questions, and answering those Questions while the Little Prince is claiming his independence in fits of nudity and yelling gets a little…interesting. Generally the chilluns are very well behaved in public, but Friday was a hard day for everyone involved because of the Change In Routine.

I finally managed to crawl into bed at 2AM this morning and after tossing and turning and worrying, slept like a dead thing for four or five hours. I feel much better now.

Heh. At least there’s no shortage of work to keep me occupied. Otherwise I might get into trouble.
