Ambuscade

So when one wakes up with the Bruces’ Philosphers Song stuck in one’s head (epecially Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy begger repeating, after a weekend which consisted of less than two hours of sleep Saturday night because, well, there was a new cast at Rocky and a new MC, not as nice as the old MC but still All Right) and with the thought of Lectrix making one wriggle with sheer unabashed delight…well, it is a sure and certain sign that one is Very Decidedly Looney.

Things are calming down a bit. Saturday night was Most Exciting, with me heading off to Rocky and finding out after I’d left that the DHM’s mum (a smashing lady, BTW, and a lovely cook) had taken a bit of a bump to the head due to a fall on her front porch. We were naturally very worried, and the DHM left at some ungodly hour Sunday morning to visit the hospital as well as render some assistance to his da. I stayed home to keep the kids out of mischief and actually got a fair bit of work done, between hourly calls to check up on the DHM. (Note: a quick word of thanks to H. and D. for getting him to Seattle and bothering him into eating and taking care of himself.)

Mum is resting comfortably and seems to be doing well. Today we will get the CAT scans, and more news about what we can expect. She is resting comfortably, though she was very tired when the DHM visited. Any good thoughts you can send her way are appreciated.

Yesterday was slow, the type of slow that only occurs when one is worried and short of sleep. So I put the Muppets on for the kids (who am I kidding? twas for me too) and did a mountain of laundry, and some other cleaning. It’s a good way to deal with stress. Of course, today is the day I’ve been requested to spend on the alterations for Valentine 4 (titled now Saint City Sinners due to the publisher) which will get me safely back into the swing for another crack at the wilds of book 5. (Of which 600 words dealing with the death of a Major Character in the series fell out of my head on Friday. I love this job.)

I hope your weekend was less interesting than mine, dear Reader. The old Chinese curse is still going strong.
