Hold On To Your Friends
I just posted at the Midnight Hour (as I do every Friday now, world without end, amen) about friends, self-esteem, and one-upmanship in publishing. Pop over and have a look, if you so desire.
Last night was dinner with the Selkie and a cold, cold night. The Moon was out and gorgeous, just past full and in a sky full of lace clouds running with the wind. As soon as the Selkie dropped me off at home I unloaded my bag and walked down to the store, both to work of some of the arroz con pollo and to enjoy the night. Ice was forming over puddles, growing in from the edges like swords. The air was champagne, hitting the back of the throat and so cold it crept up behind the eyes. The coyotes were yipping in the distance, something we don’t hear too often in this part of town. Maybe the moon had drawn them out.
Anyway, some bottles of fizzy water and a pack of gum later, I walked home and spent a few hours on Valentine 4, just tightening and re-familiarizing. Then I’m taking the hill of Book 5, and devil take the hindmost.
Ha ha.
Off I got to wander toward lunch. A shower wouldn’t be amiss either. Not to mention settling down with that new book about the Hundred Years War. For some reason, I’m only able to work on the Valentine books after dark. My Muse is just not functioning during daylight hours.
Go figure.
Have a great weekend, Readers!
