I hang around in several different writer's circles and I know a lot of e-published authors. I see a lot of the "promo whoring" going on -- and honestly, I agree. There's a lot of writers who, on the Net, won't participate in discussions except to talk about their book or else just to blatantly self-promote. Really, I'm more likely to spend my money on a book by someone I "know" and like than Plain Jane PromoWhore. Though, I have to say I can't imagine wanting to go on and on and on about my book on a panel... but then, I'm the sorta person who gets involved in a dialogue about whatever and Will Not Shut Up.
