The Week Is Almost Done
I’m listening to Jandek and sipping my morning coffee. You know I’m achieving a more solid energy state when I listen to this plunking and wailing. But I like it–as Monk says, it scratches an itch and doesn’t quite sound like anything else. The man’s a weirdo, but somehow his music works.
So today the Teenage Boy is heading to a friend’s house for the weekend, and we’re dropping off the Houseguest at the airport. The house will seem a little lonely without them, and the kids will certainly miss playing with Other People. *sad face*
I have work and the signing (plus little people, since the DHM is due up north for a kendo dinner) to get through tomorrow, and then I will crawl into a hermit-crab shell and finish that damn love scene. Then I swear I will take a week off.
I promise.
Yeah, right.
Have a good weekend, Readers!
Celebrate! Or at least, I am.
Some good news. My editor told me this morning that Dead Man Rising is in its third reprint. And that is very, very good. I couldn’t do it without my Readers. So thank you, very much, for letting me tell you stories.
And also–Yours Truly is on the front page of the Life section of the Columbian today. It’s a nice article–especially since it involves X-Men and professional westling. It also highlights the signing I’m doing at the Beaverton Powell’s tonight. (7-9 PM, in case you’re wondering. Just so you know.)
I am so excited I called the DHM several times to squeal in his ear. Bless his soul, he’s picking up a copy of the paper to bring home to me. Whatta guy.
I’m still incredibly busy, between the houseguest, the new teenager, two signings this week, and sundry other assorted articles of Must Get Done Now. So forgive me if I don’t respond immediately to comments or emails, I’m a bit busy with the Chihuahua of Real Life biting my ankles.
Squee!
Just in case you wanted to know…

Lili will be at: * Powell’s at Beaverton, Sept 28, 7-9 PM (Reading, Q & A, and signing copies of all Lili’s books) * Cover to Cover Books, Sept. 30, 5-7 PM (Official launch of Dead Man Rising!) * Sunday, October 29, from 1-3PM at the Waldenbooks in the Spokane Valley Mall (thanks to the lovely manager Jonathan and the Spokane Readers.) * University Bookstore, November 3, 7-9PM. Dual signing with the wonderful Kat Richardson. |
It’s in the third person because it’s posted to my Events page, at long last. Which is an event in and of itself…
Here It Comes Again
God bless Google.
This is why I love having Christina visit.
Enjoy.
What A Weekend
So this weekend I:
* got blue hair
* got a haircut (courtesy of Derek down at Moe’s Barber Shop) that I really love
* bought gloves for working the heavy bag
* worked all day Saturday and them came home for COPS and AMW (I am such a plebe)
* got hit in the stomach
* had someone who is not my child throw up in my living room
* had my husband hang the 100lb heavy bag up in the garage
*engineered a housewide cleaning that ended up getting the Little Prince’s room revamped so he could share it with Froopy
* kind of helped with the garage sale across the street (buying stuff and loaning boxes does count as help, right?)
* met my kitty-corner neighbor again
* hoovered my house three times in one day
* did eight loads of laundry
* sliced and diced my TBR pile
* did NOT get the bloody love scene I have to write done; in fact, did not even turn on laptop
* got tiddly on Chilean red while playing cards last night, ending up with nine cards in a seven-card game of gin, and didn’t win a single hand.
* dreamed of Fantasia hippos
So what was your weekend like?
This morning I got up, checked the flight schedule (Christina is coming to visit and we will be doing Fun Things) and had a book delivered to my door. The nice folks at HarperCollins sent me an ARC of Vicki Pettersson’s The Scent of Shadows; further bulletins as events warrant. Christina said this book was fantastic, and it looks just my speed. So there just may be a Thursday Revue in for it.
But we’ll see. My TBR pile is monstrous despite the Saint-George number I pulled on it this weekend.
